Dear Obama Voters,

I am running to be the one, female delegate for Senator Barack Obama in the 7th Congressional District. For slate voters, I have paired with long-time party leader and Winchester Town Committee Chair, Bob Colt. I appreciate the opportunity to earn your vote.

Political Background: I'm the quintessential grroots activist and cut my political teeth with Internet campaigns and local outreach. I embraced my progressive leanings after George W Bush was elected in 2000. I organized Meet-ups for Howard Dean, hosted MoveOn events, attended progressive conferences, joined the blogosphere and switched my registration from Unenrolled to Democrat. I joined the Winchester Town Committee, the League of Women Voters, and wrote Op-Ed pieces in the local paper. In short, I went political.
In 2004, I worked with America Coming Together (ACT) and produced the "most successful, progressive fundraiser in Winchester' ;s history" as declared by Congressman Ed Markey. I organized field efforts for Democrats and lead canves in NH for Senator John Kerry. On election night I worked the Kerry/Edwards "victory" event in Copley Square- I still can't talk about that night without feeling deep disappointment.
In 2006 I was very active in Deval Patrick's campaign for Governor. I ran the Winchester Caucus, produced Community Meetings, managed housing for delegates at the State Convention, was the Winchester Field Captain during the primary, and helped with special events including election night 2006 at the Hynes and the Inaugural events in Boston.
I was an early Obama supporter and have donated many hours to his campaign. I have worked with the national advance team on campaign events in New Hampshire and Boston, I participate on the New England Steering Committee and I was the Obama Field Captain in Winchester during the M Primary.
Why Obama? Like many others, I first heard Senator Obama at the 2004 Democratic Convention in Boston where he gave his, now famous, speech. When I was working a campaign event at the Reggie Lewis Center, I met Senator Obama when he appeared to endorse Deval Patrick. The excitement of the crowd was palpable. Obama has lived up to my expectations throughout this grueling primary by running a professional and respectful campaign. His early concerns about Iraq are evidence of sound judgment, an intrinsic knowledge of world affairs and a levelheaded approach to foreign policy. Obama has the intellect, charisma, cool under pressure, and leadership skills that are desperately needed. He also possesses the rare ability to both build the Democratic Party and unify the country. As the mother of two young boys, I see my work for Senator Obama as an investment in their future.
Why Denver? The voters of Machusetts need and deserve a delegation that represents the grroots that have built this campaign. We will be the ones that win this next election. and John McCain will be a formidable opponent. This is a historic election with a gifted candidate and monumental problems facing our country. We must elect Senator Obama in November and I would be honored to be part of this process.
Why Me? I will be a tough-minded, engaged, respectful, enthusiastic, thoughtful, persuasive and a hands-on delegate that contributes in every way possible. I'm a good talker, and can work a room with the best of them, but I'm also a careful listener. I want to make this experience all that it can and should be.
Running to be a delegate is an enormous undertaking. I congratulate all the candidates for the hard work and dedication that it takes to wage this campaign.
One more thing, if you send me to Denver I promise not to wear any goofy hats on the Convention floor.
